My Favorite

One day, when I was tired and cranky, Mommy went to the Sesame Street website and pulled up song videos. She played 1234 (by Feist, but Sesame style) and I really liked it. I’ve liked it ever since. When I get really crabby and fussy, watching that video over and over usually makes me happy. Sometimes I bounce a little and make noise when I watch it. Sometimes I start watching it and then I play with my toys; but when it’s over, I notice and have them start it again! Sometimes I just sit on Mommy’s lap and stare at the screen. Mommy and Daddy don’t mind playing it. They say it’s pretty cute how much I love it. And they say it’s not too annoying. I guess that’s good.

Fall
Written by Ellen on October 14, 2008 – 4:26 pm -
Mommy says it’s fall now which has nothing to do with me even though I do a lot of falling. I guess that’s what they call this chilly weather. I like to look outside our front door. There is so much to look at – and there’s some cool hardware to play with at the bottom. I’ve been working on my balance. I stand with only one hand on the wall or couch, and I can even bounce a little when I do that. Like I said, though, I do fall sometimes. But I’m getting better! I also like to babble sometimes and I pick up new syllables every now and then. Mommy, Daddy and I do a lot of giggling; we have fun.

9 Month Check-Up!
Written by Ellen on October 2, 2008 – 10:00 am -
I’m 21 lbs 10 oz and 28.5 inches tall. Dr. Beaty said my growth chart is “phenomenal” and said I could end up being 7 feet tall at this rate! I think that’s silly. But I do have some tall relatives so that may not be too far off! All in all, I’m a healthy little guy. I got lots of comments on my hair – I usually do. People seem to think it’s really something. I don’t even do anything to it; it’s wash-and-go!

Handsome and Happy
Written by Ellen on September 19, 2008 – 2:58 pm -
Mommy wanted this picture posted on the blog, so now I have to think of something to write. . .
I try to do a lot more exploring these days. I do long-distance crawling now – from the living room all the way to my room! Whew! I also move along the couch and go from the couch to the ottoman without falling. I’m pretty good at putting my hand down and kneeling to the floor, but I still sometimes fall instead. Ouch. I’m also working on my third tooth, which makes me a little cranky sometimes (so I want to be held a lot). I like getting my teeth brushed and I think it’s funny to watch Mommy and Daddy brush theirs. I also hear Mommy say something about needing to learn what “inside voice” means. (I test out my vocal cords quite a bit.)
Well, that’s about all that goes on in my little world right now.

Macomb Balloon Rally
Written by Ellen on September 8, 2008 – 8:00 am -
This weekend we went to Great Grandpa and Grandma’s house. We went down Friday just in time to see some hot air balloons flying over us as we drove to the pizza place. I didn’t actually see them, but Mommy, Daddy and Great Grandma did. They ate some really yummy pizza (so they say) at Mommy’s favorite pizza place ever, Aurelio’s. She usually gets some every time she goes to Macomb.
Saturday morning I played with Daddy while Mommy and Great Grandma went to garage sales and Great Grandpa went balloon chasing! That evening we went to see the balloons fly out. Then they all came back (in the trailers) and some of the balloons were put up so we could see them “glow”. One time while we were close to a balloon basket the burst of flame scared me and I cried. Great Grandpa held me up to sit on the basket, but I was much more interested in his shirt – it was plaid AND it had buttons! Then it started to rain so we left.
Sunday we just went to church, watched a little football and then went home during my nap time.
I like to go to Great Grandma and Grandpa’s. I can’t wait for the next time!

Apple Blossom Farm
Written by Ellen on August 30, 2008 – 4:00 pm -
Today we went to pick apples at Apple Blossom farm with Mason and his mommy and daddy. It was hot. Mason and I got sweaty and all we did was sit in our strollers! Our mommies and daddies picked apples and bought apple cider donuts. It was a fun afternoon. I got tired, though and took a nap while they were eating ice cream. Oh, well, they never share anyway.

Getting SO Big!
Written by Ellen on August 28, 2008 – 1:57 pm -I’m always on the go now! I’m crawling all over the place. I like to crawl over to the furniture and get up on my knees and chew on the corners and edges of the cushions (like in this picture). I also, just yesterday, pulled myself up to stand while holding on to furniture! I’ve been doing that several times now that I figured it out. I’d like to start walking soon, but we’ll see about that. And another tooth is popping through (it hurts).

First Tooth
Written by Ellen on August 20, 2008 – 1:49 pm -It’s time I told you about my first tooth! I’ve had it for over a week now. It feels funny to me and it hurt a lot the day it poked through. Everyone sure is excited to get to see it. Mommy took this picture. It’s blurry because using the flash so close made me look a little freaky and because she had to open my mouth and hold the camera at the same time. But you can see my tooth!

Finishing Up Vacation Time
Written by Ellen on August 10, 2008 – 2:00 pm -Daddy and Mommy still are on vacation so we are spending the weekend with Grandma Ruth. Uncle Steve, Aunt Pris, Erin, Manny, Anna, Grant, Ben, Nicole, Luke and Jordan (from Massachusetts) all stayed at Grandma’s for the weekend. I’ve never been passed around so much! At one point Uncle Steve and Aunt Pris were competing for my attention. It was funny! Even Grant helped take care of me when we went to eat at Alexander’s Steakhouse so that Mommy and Daddy could eat without having to worry about me interrupting. We watched slides of Daddy’s family from the 70s – I don’t even know what that means! Mommy says that just means it was before she was born. . . Everybody else ate home-made ice cream and lots of other food that looked really good. We all went to church together at Harvest – we filled up an entire row of chairs! We watched some of the Olympics, too.
It was fun to see everyone again.

My Vacation
Written by Ellen on August 7, 2008 – 7:00 pm -
Daddy, Mommy and I had planned to go to Rocky Mountain National Park for a week. Uncle Steve, Aunt Pris and their family were going to rent a camper. . . but plans changed kind of last minute. Daddy, Uncle Steve and my cousins Ben, Luke, Jordan and Caleb went camping and backpacking but all the girls stayed home.
So Mommy took me to Great Grandpa and Grandma Cox’s house, and we spent a week there. We went to garage sales; we ate at a coffee house; Mommy had her favorite Aurelio’s pizza (but she didn’t share any with me!); and Mommy and Great Grandma made some cards. I had fun getting to know them better! Great Grandma got lots of smiles out of me when we played together, and I watched news and Wheel of fortune with Great Grandpa.
I can’t wait to go back!
